The National Bank of Ukraine raised its policy rate to 6.5% starting on March 5, Kateryna Rozhkova, first deputy governor of the central bank, said on Facebook on March 4. 

Previously, the central bank had been gradually reducing borrowing rates — from 18% in April 2019 to a historical low of 6% in June. The new increase is the first in two years.
