“Grain Initiative”: 20% of Ukrainian wheat goes to Africa
That’s according to the Ministry of Agrarian Picy and Food, Ukrinform reports.
"Thanks to the ‘grain initiative,’ almost 25 million tonnes of agricultural products has already been exported, including 6.9 million tonnes of wheat. Twenty percent of wheat from the total amount went to African countries. Some 2.67 million tonnes of wheat, or 43%, was transported to the poorest countries and those with incomes below the average," the report says.
The ministry thanked the international partners of Ukraine and the participants of the UN agreement and Turkey for the agreement on the extension of the "grain corridor".

According to the Minister of Agricultural Picy Myka Sskyi, continuing the "grain initiative" will allow Ukraine to remain a t agrarian nation "because it means that the Ukrainian farmers will sow and be able to receive income from their harvest, that is, it is about increasing the liquidity of our farmers."
Thanks to continuing the grain agreement, the world will have the portunity to strengthen food security and feed hundreds of millions who depend on Ukraine.
As reported, the agreement on the "grain initiative" has been extended for another 120 days. It was launched on July 22, 2022, with the first bulker carrying Ukrainian food commodities left the port of Odesa on August 1.
