Generation deficit in power system remains “significant” amid repair at TPP unit – Ukrenergo
That’s according to NEC Ukrenergo, the power grid erator, Ukrinform reports.
"Electricity consumption remains at yesterday’s levels. The deficit in the power system is still significant," the statement reads.
Ukrenergo notes that as a result of Russian missile and drone strikes, power plants (generating capacities) and the high-vtage network have been damaged.
"The Russian attack on January 26 inflicted significant damage on several sites across the high-vtage network. However, the power system is still recovering from the previous series of enemy missile attacks, which caused damage to the units of our power plants. As a result, electricity generation at erating power plants is unable to fully cover consumption," the statement reads.

It is noted that due to technical reasons, one of the units of a thermal power plant was taken out for repair, accordingly, the amount of electricity generated in the system decreased.
Due to this, slightly reduced consumption caps have been issued to all regional distribution companies, which are to be applied throughout the day.
"The restoration of energy infrastructure facilities damaged during the massive attack on January 26 is underway. Emergency shutdowns continue to erate in Odesa region. Restoration of the scheduled power supply scheme of the region is underway," the statement reads.
Ukrenergo noted that Ukraine's energy system has already survived 13 enemy missile attacks and 15 UAV strikes on energy facilities.
In addition, more than 10 GW of the main installed capacities are currently inaccessible to the Ukrainian energy system and under the contr of the enemy forces. This is Zaporizhia NPP (Eure’s largest), Zaporizhia TPP, Luhansk TPP, Vuhlehirsk TPP, and Kakhovka HPP.
Most of the wind and sar power plants are also located in the temporarily occupied territories of the southern part of Ukraine. In addition to the NPPs, the rest of the power plants are key regulating capacities. It is they who provide cover for consumption in the morning and evening peak hours, where the current shortage is the greatest.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on January 26, as a result of the 13th large-scale attack on energy facilities, enemy missiles hit five high-vtage substations in the central, southern, and southwestern regions.
