Galushchenko, Merz visit energy facility destroyed by Russian strikes

Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko and Friedrich Merz, the leader of Germany’s CDU/CSU bloc, visited one of the Ukrainian energy facilities destroyed by Russian shelling.

That is according to the Ukrainian Energy Ministry, Ukrinform reports.

It is noted that the Energy Minister showed the German delegation the devastating consequences of enemy attacks on the energy sector, discussed the restoration of the energy sector, and highlighted the urgent need for this.

Galushchenko thanked Germany for its ongoing support for Ukraine's energy sector since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Merz, for his part, pledged that Germany would continue to support Ukraine, particularly in the energy sector.

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 9, Friedrich Merz, the leader of the German democratic position and a candidate for chancellor from the conservative CDU/CSU bloc, arrived in Ukraine.

Germany is the largest donor to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, established in April 2022. Germany's contributions to the Fund exceed EUR 300 million.

Ukraine has also received 160 shipments of humanitarian aid from Germany in the form of energy equipment with a total weight of almost 2,000 tonnes.
