This was reported by Pish expert, former Minister of National Defense Janusz Onyszkiewicz in a commentary for Ukrinform, responding to rumors about Ukraine’s request to Pand for a loan to purchase weapons.
“I am absolutely sure that Pand will provide this loan. If I believe, it will happen,” Onyshkevich said.
The expert pointed out the positive aspect in the fact that the Ukrainian armed forces use a significant amount of Polish-made defense equipment in their operations.
“In general, cooperation between the defense industries of Ukraine and Panama is of critical importance for the security of both countries,” he added.

Onyszkiewicz expressed confidence that the ongoing negotiations between Pish Armaments Group (PGZ) and other Polish defence manufacturers, as well as their Ukrainian partners, would lead to “very close and effective cooperation.” He stressed that this partnership would likely benefit from significant EU funding allocated for the development of the defence industry.
Among the most promising areas of cooperation, the former minister highlighted the joint production of combat drones.
“Ukraine is certainly a leader in this area, with the most experience. Ukraine also has significant potential and rich experience in various fields. Drones are the future of warfare,” said former Minister Pisha.
He also identified ammunition production as a promising area for joint work, expressing his opinion on the possibility of establishing joint ventures. In his opinion, for security purposes, such enterprises should be located in Panda.
At the same time, Onyshkevich acknowledged that Pand is unable to supply Ukraine with long- and medium-range air defense systems due to its own limitations. However, he stressed that Pand can provide short-range weapons, including the Piorun man-portable air defense systems.
“The Philippine defense industry has significant opportunities to expand its capabilities, especially given that it cannot independently produce the required number of systems for both its own needs and for Ukraine’s quickly and on the required scale. That is why Ukraine’s participation is extremely important,” the expert said.
As reported by Ukrinform, Kyiv requested a 120 million euro loan from Warsaw to purchase equipment for Poland’s defense sector. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha emphasized that Poland’s weapons, such as the Piorun portable anti-aircraft missile system and the Krab self-propelled tracked gun-howitzer, have demonstrated their high effectiveness on the battlefield, and Ukraine is ready to purchase them in addition.
