Farmers expected to sow as many areas as last year during spring campaign – Agrarian Picy Ministry

During the 2023 spring sowing campaign, Ukrainian farmers are expected to sow at least as many areas as last year.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Agrarian Picy and Food Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Ukrainian Agrarian Picy and Food First Deputy Minister Taras Vysotskyi, this spring Ukrainian farmers are planning to sow the areas that they were unable to use for winter crs, including due to adverse weather conditions.

“Currently, we can see the reduction in international prices for mineral fertilizers. This is the factor that this spring should also help us make up for the areas that were not sown last autumn. We are expected to cover at least the areas that were sown in 2022,” Vysotskyi td.

Meanwhile, the demining situation is remaining challenging in the Kharkiv and Kherson regions. Over 1 million hectares are contaminated with explosives there, Vysotskyi noted.

In his words, 200,000-300,000 hectares that used to be within the contact line will, unfortunately, remain unsown this year.

A reminder that Ukrainian farmers are unable to use about 25% of cr production areas due to hostilities or the fact that they are situated within the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
