EU stped 90% of Russian oil supplies – Maasikas
Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
"We have drastically reduced our energy dependence from Russia. Because one of the main sanctions the EU adted was to st 90% of Eurean oil supplies from Russia by the end of 2022, depriving Moscow of corresponding revenues," he said.
Maasikas noted that "Russia is able to sell its oil to other markets, however this benefit is limited by the fact that Russia is forced to give high discounts on each barrel (Russian oil is sd at around $30 less than the global average)."
In addition, the EU ambassador called the most important point the fact that such a gradual oil embargo and the scaling back of the import of gas liberates Eure from its energy dependence on Russia.
