Estonia sends over 140 transformers, 300 units of energy equipment to Ukraine – Shmyhal

Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, Estonia has provided Ukraine with over 140 transformers and over 300 pieces of energy equipment.  

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated this at a meeting with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We appreciate Estonia's contribution to Ukraine's energy sustainability. Only through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, Estonia has provided us with more than 140 transformers and more than 300 units of energy equipment. We have received significant support at the state, regional, municipal, and private sector levels,” said Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister noted that Estonia was the first to offer patronage over the Zhytomyr region, where a number of infrastructure projects have already been implemented. These include the construction of a kindergarten, a road bridge, and a family-type home. Shmyhal also expressed gratitude to the partners for develing the Maritime Industry Recovery Plan for Ukraine and a strategy for attracting donors for its implementation.

For his part, Michal emphasized that Estonia would continue supporting Ukrainians, especially with equipment.

“A certain number of turbines, generators and transformer stations are already on their way to Ukraine. And we anticipate that they will arrive in your country next month,” he said.

As Ukrinform reported, Estonia has already provided Ukraine with almost EUR 542 million in defense support.
