The media and some experts predicted the end of the war in 2026, but most Ukrainian businesses do not believe in such a development. Some companies may even leave the Ukrainian market if the fighting continues for a long time.
What does business think about the end of the war in Ukraine?
At the beginning of 2026, 76% of surveyed companies are operating at full capacity, while 24% are operating with certain restrictions, the EBA writes.
Almost half of them, namely 47%, do not expect the war to end in 2026. At the same time, 24% believe that hostilities may end this year, and 29% cannot answer this question. It became known whether companies will remain in Ukraine with such a development of events:
- Three-quarters, namely 76% of member companies of the European Business Association, will continue to operate in Ukraine, regardless of whether the war ends this year.
- Another 14% do not yet have a clear answer.
- 10% assume that if hostilities continue, they may reconsider their presence in the Ukrainian market.
What are the business losses from the war?
Business losses due to the war are increasing. As of early 2026, the following losses are known:
- 19% of companies – losses of up to $1 million;
- 25% of companies – losses of 1 – 10 million dollars;
- 20% of companies have losses of over $10 million.
At the same time, 11% of companies did not suffer any losses, while a quarter of respondents cannot yet accurately estimate them.
