Emirates is planning to take another step towards ultra-luxury flights by adding full bathrooms right in its first-class suites. It has been revealed how this will change the passenger air travel market.
What exactly is Emirates planning to do?
The UAE-based carrier has long been associated with premium service: private cabins, on-board restaurant meals and shower spas on planes. But now the company wants to raise the level of comfort even higher, writes the Daily Mail.
I'm working on getting first class suites with attached bathrooms. I want everyone to hear this, so everyone can run out of their houses and find out how they can get bathrooms in first class suites,
– says airline president Tim Clark.
Emirates first class is currently available on Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft. However, even in premium cabins, passengers do not have individual bathrooms – only shared ones. According to The National, no commercial airline in the world currently offers private bathrooms for every first class passenger.
The idea came against the backdrop of another recognition for the brand: for the second year in a row, Emirates has received the “Best International Airline” award from Forbes Travel Guide.
What does this mean for the market?
- Other airlines may follow this format
- The cost of first class may increase
- The line between air travel and hotel will blur even more
Today, the carrier's first class already includes:
- individual cabins;
- shower spa (on A380);
- lounge areas;
- premium food.
On Boeing 777s, passengers are offered a virtual “hotel room in the sky” with adjustable lighting, temperature, and maximum privacy. Guests are also offered delicacies like caviar and unlimited Dom Pérignon champagne.
Take note! Emirates is once again trying to set a new standard for luxury in the sky. And if the private bathroom idea works, regular first class flights could quickly become obsolete.
What will happen to air travel in the world in the coming months?
Due to the fuel crisis and possible fuel shortage in Europe, civil flights and the operation of low-cost airlines are under threat, Bohdan Dolintse told Channel 24 .
First of all, if we analyze European civil aviation, we need to understand that 30-50% of aviation fuel was supplied from the Persian Gulf countries. Therefore, due to the current situation in the Middle East, the reduction in supplies “could be significantly felt.”
As the expert explains, some countries estimate that the shortage of aviation fuel will occur within 3-5 months, depending on the country. This takes into account the available reserves of the resource. However, as Dolince notes, this does not apply to all countries. For example, there is Poland, where there is a refinery for petroleum products and it is expected that this country will not be affected by the shortage of aviation fuel at all.
At the same time, it should be taken into account that the annual number of flights in Europe is hundreds of thousands.
The reduction in jet fuel supplies may primarily affect the number of flights. As a result, airlines will be forced to cancel jet fuel and, in turn, increase ticket prices due to greater competition,
– added the expert.
Also, the fighting in the Persian Gulf effectively closed the airspace over the Middle East. Air routes became longer and the amount of fuel needed to fly from Europe to Asia increased accordingly.
