Economy and European integration on agenda of Prime Minister's meeting with EU Commissioner
The government press service reported this, Ukrinform reports.
The parties focused on aspects of financial support for Ukraine: the head of government expressed gratitude for today's tranche of EU aid in the amount of 1 billion euros.
Denys Shmyhal noted that the EU's leadership in the ERA initiative – a mechanism for using funds from frozen Russian assets in the interests of Ukraine – is of critical importance for the country. According to the Prime Minister, the funds that Ukraine receives under this initiative are already being directed towards defense needs and important budget expenditures.

“Our main goal is to seize all frozen assets, which will be the main source of the country's recovery. This year, the government has focused on creating a confiscation mechanism,” the prime minister said.
The meeting also discussed issues of strengthening economic cooperation and European integration. Denys Shmyhal noted that the process of checking Ukrainian legislation for compliance with the EU Acqui requirements is currently underway.
“Ukraine has successfully implemented all the necessary measures to advance the process of European integration. We are actively working to expand all six clusters within the framework of the negotiation process with the EU. This is a key priority,” he emphasized.
The issue of sanctions against Russia was also discussed at the meeting. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of this effective step and advocated for the continuation and strengthening of restrictions.
In turn, Valdis Dombrovskis assured Shmyhal of further assistance to Ukraine. He noted that the day before, the European Commission presented the SAFE initiative for 150 billion euros, which assumes that the Ukrainian defense industry will participate equally with the defense-industrial complex of EU member states.
