Proponents claim that French luxury brand Dior may return to Russia and have even named an approximate date. It is currently known that the company has renewed the registration of its trademark in Russia.
Will Dior return to Russia?
Dior may reopen its stores in Russia, but not before 2028. This information is contained in an explanatory note to the financial statements of the Russian division of the company “Christian Dior Couture Stoleshnikov”, writes The Moscow Times.
- As follows from the documents, the company plans to resume operations at GUM and Stoleshnikov Lane.
- The estimated deadline is January 1, 2028.
By the way, in March 2022, the brand decided to suspend operations in Russia after a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Before that, the Dior chain in the country had nine stores: eight in Moscow and one in St. Petersburg. By 2024, only four remained.
In its financial documents for 2024, the company reported that it had decided to permanently close some of its stores. At the same time, the brand extended the registration of its trademark in Russia until 2034. This is why Russian media outlets began to believe that the company could return.
In reality, registering or renewing a trademark is just a legal tool to protect intellectual property. Companies seek to preserve their rights to prevent third parties from using their brand and to block attempts to register similar names or logos.
Note! The financial performance of the Russian division now looks much weaker than before the war. In 2025, the company's revenue was only 592 thousand rubles, and the net loss was 120 million rubles. For comparison: in 2021, the turnover reached 8.5 billion rubles, and the net profit exceeded 1.3 billion rubles.
