What is known about weapons export permits?

Controlled arms exports open the way to new security alliances and expanded international partnerships, said Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov.

The Interdepartmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation Policy and Export Control resumed work and held its first meeting in 8 months. Thanks to this, Ukrainian enterprises received their first permits for arms exports.

Today, the production capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry exceed $55 billion. In the areas of UAVs, electronic warfare and intelligence, our capabilities are already greater than the volume of domestic purchases. Coordinated exports allow us to attract investments, scale production and launch new technologies for the Ukrainian army,
– said Umerov.

Where and what weapons will Ukraine export?

  • Ukraine plans to export its own weapons to three main destinations: Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.

  • The industry is now recovering, in particular, Ukrainian technologies are being used to produce drones in Germany and the UK. By 2026, 10 export centers will be opened in Europe.

  • European countries are interested in Ukrainian weapons. These are Denmark, Norway, Germany, Great Britain and Lithuania. They need interceptor drones. And in general, any technology that can cheaply shoot down Russian “Shaheds”. They also need electronic warfare systems, electronic warfare systems – installations that can detect and jam enemy drones.

  • Drone manufacturers say they will give priority to exports to countries that have signed defense agreements with Kyiv. More and more of Ukraine's partners are entering into agreements on joint arms production.
