What are the salaries of tractor drivers in Ukraine?
According to Agrohub research, the average salary of a tractor driver in Ukraine is currently about 31,600 hryvnias, NV writes.
This is 12% more than a year earlier. If you add bonuses, the average income increases to 36,300 hryvnias.
Despite the increase in workers' incomes, agricultural companies' expenses for paying their labor increased by only 5%. One explanation is the reduction in the number of workers: now there are an average of 25 tractor drivers per 10,000 hectares instead of 27, as before.
At the same time, the workload on each specialist is increasing: in 2025, one tractor driver will cultivate about 3,700 hectares on average.
What do tractor drivers get paid the most for?
The most profitable work remains during the harvest:
- harvesting – 383 hryvnias per hour (+5% per year);
- spraying – 320 hryvnias per hour (+8%);
- sowing – 271 hryvnia per hour (+14%).
Simpler operations, such as rolling, are paid less – 142 hryvnias per hour, although here too the growth was 17%. Universal workers are now the most valued , because they can earn more and cover several business needs.
The most popular salary payment model now is a combined one:
- it is used by about 76% of companies;
- it includes a rate + payment for the volume of work + bonuses.
Another 21% work on a purely piecework basis, and only about 2% of employees receive a fixed salary without bonuses.
Will there be enough work in Ukraine for citizens and foreigners?
Ukrainians fear that migrant workers may take their places on the labor market, but there will be enough work for everyone. Labor market expert Vasyl Voskoboynyk said this in a commentary on Channel 24 .
During the war and for post-war reconstruction, Ukraine needs personnel in all sectors of the economy, but primarily workers in working specialties: builders, locksmiths, plumbers, bricklayers, welders, etc.

Vasyl Voskoboynyk
Head of the Migration Policy Office, President of the All-Ukrainian Association of International Employment Companies
The largest industry that can accept even several hundred thousand potential workers is construction. Will, for example, builders from Indonesia be able to displace Ukrainians? I want to remind you that even in 2006-2008, when there was a construction boom in Ukraine and about 47-48 million people, construction companies lacked workers. Now we have a population of 30 million, the proportion of elderly people has increased. And to say that conditional Indonesians, having come to us, will be able to displace Ukrainians… There is no one to displace .
Expert Vasyl Voskoboynyk says that Ukraine is currently working on preparing a migration strategy until 2035, which will take into account the needs of the labor market and the interests of citizens. To this end, a survey was conducted among representatives of the government, business, and ordinary Ukrainians on their attitudes towards labor migration.
