First of all, for its registration, the land plot should be assigned a cadastral number, as Free Legal Assistance writes.

The cadastral number of a land plot is an individual digital code of the plot. It is assigned to it during state registration and is stored throughout its existence, but cannot be repeated throughout the entire territory of Ukraine.

The territorial department of the State Land Agency, namely the state cadastral registrar, is responsible for registering land plots or assigning cadastral numbers. Registration is carried out on the basis of a submitted application for determining cadastral numbers and a receipt for payment of services.

The following should be added to the application:

  • copy of a state act;
  • copies of passport;
  • applicant's identification number.

In the future, the person will receive an extract from the State Land Cadastre, which will contain all information about the plot and information about its owner.

Please note! The right of ownership of land arises from the moment of state registration of this right.

Let us recall that the legislation of Ukraine provides for the principle of unity of the house and the plot on which it is located. It has been in effect since January 2021.

When acquiring ownership of a real estate object, the right of ownership or use of the land plot on which it is located is simultaneously transferred. This is stated in the Civil Code.

Foreigners, as well as stateless persons, can also acquire ownership rights to non-agricultural land plots. However, in the case of acquiring ownership of real estate objects located on land plots.

Please note! The Land Code of Ukraine defines exactly how the transfer of rights to a land plot occurs.
