In 2025, Ukraine maintained a high role in agricultural exports, despite a reduction in volumes due to weather conditions and logistics constraints. At the same time, an increasing share of foreign exchange earnings is provided by value-added products.

What obstacles does Ukrainian agricultural export face?

The main trend in 2025 is the preservation of the high role of agricultural exports against the background of its diversification, the Ministry of Economy reported. However, the Ministry of Economy states that the main reason for the reduction in exports was the delay in the harvest of late crops due to adverse weather conditions.

By the end of September 2025, only about 5% of the corn area had been threshed, which is significantly lower than the average annual figures. The fact is that due to high humidity, the grain needs to be additionally dried, which slowed down the pace of shipments and increased logistics costs.

In addition, Bohdan Dukhnytsky, an expert at the Institute of Agrarian Economics, said that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has been forced to export under conditions of complete or partial limitation of logistics capacities.

But despite all the difficulties, the very fact of developing exports of processed products remains a great positive,
– the expert notes.

In 2025, excluding residues and waste, considerable revenues were generated through exports:

  • finished grain products – $501 million,
  • sugar and sugar confectionery – $476 million,
  • alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages – $361 million,
  • processed fruit and vegetable products – $349 million,
  • cocoa and chocolate products – $346 million,
  • butter – $107 million,
  • powdered and condensed milk – $97 million.

Important! Any processed products that are exported gradually reduce Ukraine's dependence on the need to export large volumes of raw materials.
