Changes await Danube ports

The Ukrainian government is launching a two-year pilot project aimed at developing Danube ports. The initiative has already been supported by the coordination council, the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine reported.

The project involves the creation of a single branch of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration (USPA), as well as reinvesting the profits of state-owned enterprises in the restoration of port infrastructure and fleet.

Among the key decisions are the introduction of tariff incentives for rail transportation to the ports of Izmail and Reni, as well as the targeted use of port dues for the development of the region.

Please note! Deputy Minister Andriy Kashuba emphasized that the implementation of the project will ensure the stable operation of 56 stevedoring companies and increase the guaranteed cargo flow to 2.5 million tons per year . In addition, it is expected to preserve about 2 thousand jobs in the maritime industry and more than 3.5 thousand in Ukrzaliznytsia.

A separate direction will be the creation of industrial parks in the territories of the ports of Izmail, Reni, and the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company. This should contribute to attracting investments, creating new jobs, and increasing cargo processing volumes.

Important! The project also provides solutions to improve logistics to the ports of Greater Odessa. Due to security risks, transportation routes are changing, which increases costs and delivery time. To solve this problem, a mechanism for averaging tariff distances is proposed, which will allow equalizing the cost of transportation regardless of the chosen route.
