The sunflower market has revived

Sunflower prices on CPT-port terms rose to $689 per ton, adding $4 per ton per week, according to Spike Brokers. Market analysts attributed the dynamics to active purchases of raw materials by leading processors for February.

At the same time, the export direction remains practically motionless. For 29 days of January, sunflower seed exports did not exceed 6 thousand tons, which is explained by high domestic consumption and attractive processing prices.

The sunflower oil market remains stable. Demand from the European Union remains high, and port logistics are working rhythmically. According to the results of January, oil exports are approaching 400 thousand tons, although the volume of transshipment through ports has decreased somewhat due to reduced activity and a partial reorientation of traders to land routes.

On the world market, sunflower oil prices have not changed significantly. On FOB six ports of the European Union, the March contract is held at around USD 1,485 per tonne. This supports the export attractiveness of the product, but restrains further growth in domestic prices due to limited margins. Processing remains at a high level, although the spread between sunflower oil, soybean and rapeseed is gradually narrowing.

Sunflower prices in Ukraine have gone down: processors are reducing purchases

  • Ukraine is recording a gradual decline in sunflower prices due to restrained purchasing activity by processing enterprises.

  • Analysts expect further correction in quotes, although a sharp market collapse is not expected due to limited sunflower supply.
