Ukraine is recording an increase in prices for greenhouse cucumbers amid consistently high demand and limited supply. Analysts attribute the increase in prices to a reduction in domestic production and a rise in the price of imports from Turkey.

Why have cucumbers started to rise in price again?

The consistently high demand for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine, as well as a significant reduction in the supply of this product, are stimulating price growth, EastFruit analysts report. Currently, only a few Ukrainian greenhouse plants sell vegetables, while the main supply on the domestic market is formed by imported cucumbers of Turkish production.

Today, sellers are offering greenhouse cucumbers at prices ranging from 120 to 150 hryvnias per kilogram, which corresponds to $2.81 to $3.51 per kilogram. On average, this is 10 percent more expensive than a week earlier.

Market participants attribute the price increase to the increase in cucumber prices directly in Turkey, which is traditionally the main supplier of greenhouse vegetables to Ukraine in the winter. In addition, this week imported products arrived in small batches, and some wholesale companies refuse to work with Turkish cucumbers due to low quality.

Please note! Experts note that currently greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are sold on average 61 percent more expensive than at the end of January 2025. At the same time, most market participants consider this price situation temporary and do not rule out stabilization next week after normalization of supplies from Turkey.
