Participants in the hostilities in Ukraine can claim a considerable number of benefits and support from the state. In particular, a person with the status of a UBD has the right to a land plot.
How much land can UBD get in April?
It is intended for the construction of housing and household management, as stated in the Law of Ukraine “On the Status of War Veterans”.
A participant in the hostilities in 2026 may claim the following plots of land:
- for individual farming – up to 2 hectares;
- for gardening – up to 0.12 hectares;
- for the construction of a residential building – from 0.10 hectares in cities to 0.25 in villages;
- for the construction of a summer residence – up to 0.10 hectares.
In order to obtain land, you must apply to the relevant executive authority.
But not everything is so simple. During martial law , it is prohibited to transfer state and municipal land to private ownership free of charge . This is stated in the Land Code.
What else should UBD know about land acquisition?
- Expert Larysa Velychko spoke about the situation in detail. The fact is that a ban has also been imposed on the development of land management documentation – with the aim of such free transfer and development of such documentation.
- The law came into force in November 2022. It also covers participants in hostilities.
- At the same time, the rules do not apply to people who are owners of real estate located on such land plots. Also, the legislation does not apply to the free transfer into private ownership of plots that were transferred for use before this Code came into force. That is, before January 1, 2002.
