Where were the most tomatoes and cucumbers imported to Ukraine?

In 2025, Ukraine increased its tomato imports by 32.5% to 104.82 thousand tons, EastFruit reports, citing data from the State Customs Service. At the same time, cucumber imports increased by 46.3% to 70.82 thousand tons compared to 2024.

In monetary terms, tomato imports increased by 31.6% to reach 140.84 million USD. Cucumber imports in value terms increased by 38.8% to 89.14 million USD.

The main supplier of tomatoes in 2025 was Turkey, which accounted for 82.3% of all import supplies in monetary terms. This is followed by Poland with a share of 7.3% and the Netherlands – 1.9%. Among the largest exporters of cucumbers to Ukraine, Turkey also leads with a share of 83.5%, followed by Romania – 7.6% and Poland – 4.6%, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

Please note! For comparison, in 2024, Turkey's share in tomato imports was 77.3%, and in cucumber imports – 73.6%. Thus, by the end of 2025, Turkish suppliers significantly strengthened their positions in both product segments.

How has the export of Ukrainian vegetables changed?

At the same time, tomato exports from Ukraine decreased by 31.2% in 2025 to 553 tons. The main supply destinations were Moldova with a share of 61.5%, Poland – 34.1% and Romania – 1.1%.

Ukrainian cucumber exports to foreign markets, on the contrary, increased by 19.7% and reached 3.76 thousand tons. The largest buyers remained Poland with a share of 54.5%, Estonia – 36.4% and Moldova – 7.5%.

Interesting! Earlier it became known that in July 2025 Ukraine introduced anti-dumping duties on imports of fresh cucumbers and tomatoes from Turkey in the amount of 20.1% and 26.9%, respectively, for a period of 5 years. The measures were introduced to protect Ukrainian producers from dumped imports, which caused harm to domestic greenhouse farms.

Greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine have become more expensive: what is pushing prices up?

  • Prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine have increased due to consistently high demand and limited supply caused by a reduction in domestic production and higher prices for imports from Turkey.

  • Currently, cucumbers are sold at prices ranging from 120 to 150 hryvnias per kilogram, which is 10% more expensive than a week ago, and experts expect a temporary stabilization of prices after normalization of supplies from Turkey.
