How much does a dozen chicken eggs cost?

At Easter, demand for the traditional and main product of the holiday increases. The greater demand accordingly increases the price of the product. However, after the holidays, the situation should stabilize.
As the publication notes, the consumer price index in April 2026 is 102.78%. In other words, due to the influence of the holiday and other factors, chicken eggs have become more expensive by 2.78%.
Minimum prices for a dozen eggs (packed, in packages):
- 65.91 hryvnias – Silpo;
- 66.50 hryvnias – Varus;
- 73.90 hryvnias – Auchan;
- 79.29 hryvnias – Novus;
- 79.50 hryvnias – Metro;
- 79.50 hryvnias – Handicap;
- 79.90 hryvnias – ATB;
- 85 hryvnias – MegaMarket.

If Ukrainians choose to buy chicken eggs individually, prices will be lower. In Varus, one egg costs 4.99 hryvnia, which means that for a dozen you will have to pay 49.90 hryvnia .
For comparison, the price in the network for a packed dozen is 66.50 hryvnias. That is, the difference or savings is 16.60 hryvnias . Thus, buyers do not overpay for the brand and packaging, which, by the way, can be reusable.
At the same time, one chicken egg in Auchan costs 5.90 hryvnia (at the beginning of April the price was 6.80 hryvnia). In contrast, in Fori you will have to pay 5.79 hryvnia, when before Easter the price was 6.65 hryvnia per unit.
MegaMarket has not changed the price, one egg costs 8 hryvnias. However, this figure is still more profitable when converted into a dozen eggs, which can be bought in ready-made packaging.
How much did eggs cost before Easter?
According to the Ministry of Finance website, the average cost of a package of category C1 eggs was 87 hryvnias (as of April 2, 2026).

On April 18, 2026, the average price for “Kvochka” eggs of category C1 is 87 hryvnias. The average price for a dozen “Yasensvit” eggs is 87.23 hryvnias.
Compared to the average monthly indicators of March 2026, current prices for the product remain higher. So, in the third month, 10 “Kvochka” eggs cost 85.41 hryvnias, and “Yasensvit” – 84.21 hryvnias.
