The Ukrainian root vegetable market has seen a decline in carrot prices this week. Farmers have stepped up sales of products from storage, which has led to an increase in supply and pressure on prices.
What led to the decline in the price of carrots?
According to daily monitoring by the analytical project EastFruit, carrot prices decreased this week on the Ukrainian root vegetable market. The main reason was an increase in sales of products from storage.
Currently, Ukrainian producers are offering carrots on average 11 percent cheaper than a week earlier. Shipments are made at prices ranging from 8 to 14 hryvnias per kilogram, depending on the quality of the product and the volume of the consignments.
Interesting! Farmers note that prices are negatively affected by the increase in the supply of medium and low-quality carrots. As of the beginning of spring 2026, the quality of some vegetables in storage has noticeably deteriorated, so producers are forced to sell off stocks more actively.
At the same time, market participants report that owners of high-quality carrots that store well often decide to temporarily suspend sales.
Please note! At the same time, current carrot prices in Ukraine are already approximately 64 percent lower than at the beginning of March 2025. Most market participants also expect further stagnation in this segment due to low trading activity.
Ukrainian garlic is losing ground: why are Chinese imports crowding out local producers?
-
Chinese garlic occupies 80% of the Ukrainian market, while domestic products occupy only 20% due to rising costs and consumer orientation towards lower prices.
-
Imports from China are cheaper, forcing producers to reduce garlic cultivation, and overproduction on the world market could make the situation even worse.
