In early April, Ukraine recorded a new wave of falling prices for white cabbage. The main reason was the deterioration of product quality and weak demand.
Prices are falling rapidly due to quality and weak demand
The Ukrainian market for white cabbage is experiencing another price drop, EastFruit analysts report. The main factor behind the price drop is the low quality of the product, which deteriorates due to long-term storage.
Over the past weekend alone, cabbage prices have dropped by an average of 21%. Currently, the main sales are in the range of 3–9 hryvnias per kilogram, which is significantly below previous levels.
Market participants note that demand for products remains weak and continues to decline, which further increases pressure on prices.
Market under pressure: prices fell by 84% in a year
According to experts, the current cost of cabbage is already 84% lower on average than in the same period last year. For comparison, in early April 2025, prices were at the level of 35–42 hryvnias per kilogram.
Analysts do not rule out that the negative price trend will continue. The reason is the further deterioration of the quality of vegetables in storage and the lack of prerequisites for the restoration of demand in the near future.
