MFA China denies allegations of plans to supply arms to Russia

China's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that the country is not looking into sending Russia any weapons to be used in the raging war on Ukraine.

This is reported by Ukrinform citing a CNN story.

"The United States and other NATO countries are now constantly spreading that China may provide weapons to Russia, which is a ploy that was used and busted at the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis," Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a press briefing.

His comments came after NATO Secretary General Jens Sttenberg said on Tuesday that the alliance was "increasingly concerned that China might be planning lethal support for Russia’s war."

In a speech on Wednesday, Wang said China is calling on NATO to "st smearing China with unfounded speculations on Ukraine, abandon the d Cd War mentality of zero-sum game and bloc confrontation, and st fomenting confrontation."

Wang also stated that the U.S. and other NATO countries are "the largest source of weapons to the battlefield of Ukraine."

As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Vodymyr Zelensky said he had appealed to the Chinese government not to provide any support to Russia in the war on Ukraine.
