The capital city is set to get several dozen delivered as early as next week.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko says the city is purchasing additional artificial lung ventilation machines, used in the treatment of complicated forms of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

“There are 200 artificial lung ventilation machines in Kyiv, of which 133 are located at infectious disease units and general hospitals. We are also procuring more artificial lung ventilation machines. And we expect we will get some of the devices, namely several dozen, as early as next week,” he told a briefing on the situation in Kyiv amid anti-epidemic restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus infection, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

As UNIAN reported earlier, an outbreak of a novel coronavirus was recorded late December 2019 in the most populous city of Central China, Wuhan. The World Health Organization recognized it as a global emergency, describing it as a multi-cell epidemic.

To date, 16 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Ukraine, two of which are lethal.

The country has declared a nationwide quarantine, which will last until April 3.
