The government fired Andriy Kobolyev as CEO of state-owned Naftogaz on April 28, 2021, and hired Yuriy Vitrenko as interim CEO for at least one year. Kobolyev and Vitrenko worked together for years before a falling out in 2020. Just a day earlier, the oil and gas company reported losses of $685 million for 2020.

Yuriy Vitrenko, acting energy minister since December, was appointed as the new CEO of state-owned oil and gas company Naftogaz on April 28, according to Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers.
