The Hollywood star Val Kilmer has passed away at the age of 65 in Los Angeles, as reported by the Associated Press, quoting his daughter Mercedes Kilmer.

He died on the evening of April 1 at his residence, surrounded by loved ones.

Pneumonia was the cause of death. He had previously battled throat cancer but had recovered in 2014. During his treatment, he underwent two tracheostomy procedures.

In 2021, the documentary film “Vel” was released, which focuses on the actor’s career.

“I acted poorly. I acted courageously. I acted oddly to some. I do not deny any of it or regret any of it, as I lost and discovered parts of myself that I never knew were there. I feel blessed,” Kilmer expressed at the conclusion of the film.

Kilmer made his film debut in the spy comedy “Top Secret!” in 1984 and gained fame in 1986 after starring in the action film “Top Gun” alongside Tom Cruise.

His character became legendary. He returned to the role in the 2022 sequel, “Top Gun: Maverick.” This film marked Kilmer’s final performance.

Throughout his career, he appeared in over 60 films, including the biopic “The Doors,” in which he portrayed the lead vocalist of the rock band The Doors, Jim Morrison, and the superhero movie “Batman Forever,” where he took on the role of Bruce Wayne-Batman.
