Since beginning of Russian invasion, 9,000 charitable foundations and 6,000 public organizations registered in Ukraine

During the full-scale war unleashed by Russia, about 9,000 charitable foundations and 6,000 public organizations were officially registered in Ukraine.

This was stated by Vyacheslav Hardikov, Deputy Director of the State Registration Department of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, during a presentation at Ukrinform of the results of the international forum 'InterUAction. Positive Scenario of Ukraine's Recovery and Develment' organized by the NGO 'League of Business and Professional Women of Ukraine' (BPW of UA) and the NGO 'Melit Business Women's Club'.

"During this period, many newly created organizations appeared. About nine thousand charitable foundations were registered in Ukraine, although before that charitable organizations were not very common associations of citizens. As for civil society organizations, about six thousand have been created and are erating since the invasion," Hardikov said.

According to him, separate units of non-governmental organizations are being actively accredited. While there was no such surge before the full-scale invasion, after February 24, 2022, 85 new branches of international organizations and charitable foundations that are active in Ukraine were accredited.

Hardikov emphasized that the Ministry has set itself the task of simplifying and facilitating the registration procedures for civil society institutions to make it easier for them to start their activities.

As reported, in February 2022, the Ministry of Justice was forced to shut down the registers for a while for security reasons, but since March the situation has changed and, for example, the registration of public and charitable organizations has been resumed.
