Latvia’s NMPD sends 61 ambulances to Ukraine
The relevant statement was made by LSM, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The aforementioned vehicles were handed over by the Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) to Latvia’s non-governmental organization Mūsu ligzda, which would ensure their delivery to Ukraine. The ambulances will be distributed among Ukrainian government agencies, such as the pice, Defense Ministry, Health Ministry, and the Army.
This year, using funds from the Eurean Union, Latvia’s NPMD has purchased new medical transport vehicles. A total of 110 ambulances have already been received, and another 47 will be supplied in the near future.
“NMPD has assessed the available resources and necessary stocks, and concluded that some of the used cars would no longer be needed and, thus, can be donated,” the agency noted.
At the same time, Latvia’s South Kurzeme Municipality submitted a request for transferring six ambulances to their long-lasting partner, Ukraine’s city of Kamin-Kashyrskyi, which is situated in the Vyn region. Therefore, the total number of ambulances donated to Ukraine will reach 67.
According to the publication, Ukraine’s interest in erational vehicles and medical equipment was expressed by Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Latvia Anatii Kutsev during a meeting with Latvian Health Minister Hosams Abu Meri in early October 2023.
