Russia launched a missile strike on Sumy: figures and results

This morning, April 13, Russia launched a missile strike on the city center of Sumy.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Russia struck Sumy with two Iskander-M missiles. The strikes were carried out by the 112th Missile Brigade from the Voronezh Region and the 448th Missile Brigade from the Kursk Region.

As reported in the Telegram channel of the Sumy City Council, 99 people asked for help: 88 adults and 11 children. 31 people died, including 2 children. 25 residential buildings (and 457 windows) were damaged, as well as 9 administrative buildings with 117 windows damaged.

27 apartments on 60 Petropavlivska Street are left without gas supply. The house on 16 Gerasima Kondratiev Street and 5 Akademichny Lane is without heat supply. The houses on Pokrovska Street and Petropavlivska Street are partially without electricity supply.

Three days of mourning have been declared in Sumy: April 14, 15, and 16. Entertainment events have been canceled in the city, and the playing of entertainment music in retail, catering, and public transport establishments has been banned.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the missiles hit residential buildings, educational institutions and parked cars. “Russia wants exactly this kind of terror and is dragging out this war. Without pressure on the aggressor, peace is impossible. Talks have never stopped ballistic missiles and aerial bombs,” Zelensky wrote.
