In March, Ukrainians will receive indexed pensions: how much have payments increased?

From Tuesday, March 4, 2025, pensioners began receiving pension payments indexed by 11.5%. In total, more than 10 million Ukrainians will receive an increased pension starting in March.

Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated February 25, 2025 No. 209 “On indexation of pension and insurance payments and additional measures to increase the level of social protection of the most vulnerable segments of the population in 2025” provides for the indexation of pensions in 2025 by a coefficient of 1.115.

At the same time, according to the Government's decision, pensions assigned until December 31, 2024 inclusive, from March 1, 2025, were recalculated by increasing the average wage in Ukraine by the increase coefficient:

• for pensions awarded in 2021 – 1.0575;
• for pensions awarded in 2022 – 1.046;
• for pensions awarded in 2023 – 1.0345;
• for pensions awarded in 2024, it is 1.023.

This was done to reduce the disparity in the size of pensions awarded in different years,

According to the Ministry, pensions will be indexed for:

• 9.2 million pensioners who are granted a pension on a general basis;
• 672 thousand pensioners of law enforcement agencies;
• 98 thousand people who receive disability pensions and survivors' pensions as a result of the Chernobyl disaster;
• 79.6 thousand pensioners – people with disabilities as a result of war and combatants who receive minimum pension payments;
• 23.4 thousand pensioners – former employees of local governments and civil servants.

“As a result of indexation, the average projected level of pension growth will be 556 hryvnias, the average pension in Ukraine will increase from 5,789 hryvnias to 6,345 hryvnias,” the Ministry of Social Policy says.

Monthly insurance payments will also be indexed for 158,000 victims of industrial accidents and occupational diseases that caused loss of work capacity, and for persons entitled to insurance payments in the event of the victim's death.

And on April 1, an automatic recalculation of pensions will take place for 629 thousand working pensioners (taking into account their updated insurance experience).
