Fine for primroses: which flowers cannot be picked and sold
In Ukraine, spring is coming, when nature comes to life and the first flowers appear – primroses. However, it is worth remembering that many of these plants are rare and listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, and their picking and sale are strictly prohibited by law. Violation of these rules can lead to significant fines.
Primroses that are protected and listed in the Red Book of Ukraine include:
- snowdrops;
- snowdrops;
- crocuses;
- white flower;
- dream-grass.
These plants are rare and endangered species, so their collection and sale are prohibited.
The following fines are provided for the illegal acquisition, sale and distribution of flora objects:
- from 510 to 1,700 hryvnias;
- from 1,700 to 3,655 hryvnias – for plants collected in protected areas or listed in the Red Book of Ukraine (with confiscation of plants).
Trade in primroses is prosecuted by the National Police and the State Environmental Inspectorate.
It is worth noting that the mass destruction of early spring plants for the purpose of sale leads to a decrease in their number in nature and threatens their complete disappearance. Picking just a few primrose plants leads to the destruction of dozens of seeds that could give a new generation in the future.
