Contract 18-24: what are the conditions of the contract army and what “buns” can you count on

On February 11, 2025, a new program “Contract 18-24” was launched in Ukraine, aimed at attracting young people aged 18 to 24 to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This initiative offers a one-year contract service with attractive conditions and social guarantees, which makes it especially interesting for young citizens seeking to gain military experience and financial stability.

Main conditions of the “Contract 18-24” program

The program involves a one-year contract, during which participants undergo intensive military training and perform duties in designated military units. Upon completion of the service, volunteers have the opportunity to extend the contract or return to civilian life with the acquired knowledge and experience.

Financial incentives and social guarantees

• A one-time cash payment of 1,000,000 UAH , which is made in installments: 200,000 UAH immediately upon signing the contract and 800,000 UAH in payments during the term of the contract;
• Monthly salary up to 120,000 UAH plus additional payments for performing combat missions;
• Total annual income can reach UAH 2,000,000;
• Possibility of choosing a military unit and specialty;
• Compensation for housing expenses during service;
• Free medical care, including dentistry and dental prosthetics;
• Mortgage at 0.0% per annum after the contract ends (“eOselya” program);
• Free public transport and utility benefits;
• The possibility of studying in educational institutions at state expense after the contract ends;
• The right to travel abroad after a year of service;
• Independent choice of the location of the military medical commission (MMC).

How to join?

• Recruiting units of a military unit.

• Information about the place of medical examination;

Pass selection in the chosen military unit:

• Interview;
• Professional and psychological selection.

Undergo a medical examination to determine your health suitability for military service.

Sign a contract and undergo intensive training:

• Basic training – from 45 days;
• Professional training – 14 days;
• The adaptation course in the military unit is 14 days.
