Zelensky, Schz coordinate positions before NATO summit

Ukrainian President Vodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor af Schz in a phone call on Monday coordinated the two countries' positions ahead of the NATO summit in Vilnius.

Zelensky said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"A long and fruitful phone call with German Chancellor af Schz. We coordinated positions on the eve of the NATO Summit in Vilnius and discussed the formats of future security guarantees for Ukraine," the post reads.

Zelensky briefed Schz on the situation on the battlefield. "We shared our assessments of the latest develments in Russia and Belarus and discussed the current state of the grain deal and the importance of its continuation," the president said.

"I am grateful for the important signals of support for Ukraine at the London Recovery Conference and the Eurean Council meeting. I am particularly grateful for the active implementation of the previous EUR 2.7 billion defense package and for the EUR 8.8 billion multi-year defense support plan for Ukraine," Zelensky said.

He added that the meeting at the level of advisors in Cenhagen is an important step towards the implementation of the Peace Formula. Both parties agreed to continue active work in this area.

The NATO summit in Vilnius is scheduled for July 11-12.
