Sibiga and Rubio discussed Russia's war against Ukraine and hostilities in the Middle East on the sidelines of the G7 ministerial meeting

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the G7 ministerial meeting in France and discussed a number of issues with him. In particular, they discussed peace negotiations to end Russia's war against Ukraine and hostilities in the Middle East.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported on the meeting of diplomats.

Among other things, Sibiga noted Washington's role in promoting peace efforts, which remains “critically important” for Kyiv. He stressed that Ukraine's proposals for ending the war “are realistic and feasible,” and pressure on Russia is key to forcing Moscow to end it.

“The issue of countering Russian aggression against Ukraine must remain among the priorities of the international agenda,” the minister added.

The parties also discussed events in the Middle East. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister noted that Kyiv's position is that the regimes in Moscow and Tehran are cooperating.

“To continue the war. And both must be subjected to consolidated pressure. Ukraine's practical assistance to the Gulf states in protecting against Iranian terror has demonstrated our role as a security partner and contributor,” Sybiga added.

The Foreign Ministry later reported that the meeting of foreign ministers of the G7 countries, with the participation of Sybiga, had begun. The main topics of the talks included further support for Kyiv, increased sanctions pressure on Russia, and Ukraine's support for partners in the Middle East.
