
The second playoff participant at the 2026 European Futsal Championship has been determined: the current trophy holders from Portugal are guaranteed to play in the quarterfinals.
On match day Tuesday, January 27, the second round of the Euro tournament concluded. Two matches were held in Group D: Portugal played Hungary, and Italy played Poland.
For the second time since the start of the tournament, the Portuguese celebrated a confident victory: after defeating Italy (6:2) with a difference of four goals, they also defeated the Hungarians – 5:1 with effective shots from five different players.
Having scored the maximum six points in two rounds, Portugal won Group D early. Instead, the fight for second place intensified: Italy defeated Poland 4:0 and tied with the Hungarians on points, while the Poles lost their chances of making the playoffs.
Italy and Hungary will play for second place in a head-to-head match on Thursday, January 29. The winner of this match will advance to the top team of Group C, currently led by Spain.

The second playoff participant has already been determined in Ukraine's group: the Armenian national team started its debut Euro with two wins – and guaranteed a place in the top 2. However, the “blue and yellow” will only be able to claim second place after the final round, in which they will play against the Czech Republic on Wednesday, January 28 (kick-off at 8:30 p.m.).
