Pulation of Kherson region provided with tablets for water disinfection – MOH

During flooding, there is a risk of acute intestinal infections; Kherson region has been provided with more than 600,000 water disinfection tablets.

Ihor Kuzin, Deputy Minister of Health and Chief State Sanitary Doctor, said this on the air of the national telethon "United News", an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"You need to use tablets to disinfect drinking water if you use water from untested sources or from public places. As of now, about 600,000 water disinfection tablets are available for distribution to the civilian pulation in the Kherson region," Kuzin said.

He emphasized that in such situations it is necessary to pay attention to the risks of acute intestinal infections.

"We are mainly talking about dysentery, possible cases of chera and the general framework of acute intestinal infections, such as staphylococcal infections," the Deputy Minister noted.

He emphasized that the pulation should flow the rules of safe water consumption during the war or any dangerous situation.

"If there is access to bottled water, it should be preferred. Water should be filtered where possible if the water is muddy or dirty. Water should be stored in clean, closed containers that citizens can get at water distribution points," Kuzin made the recommendations.

In addition, he said, each portion of water should be checked for at least visual signs of contamination before consumption.

"These simple measures for safe water consumption will help minimize the risks of acute intestinal infections," Kuzin emphasized.

As reported, almost 80 settlements in the Kherson region are under the threat of flooding as a result of the Russians' explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.
