The Kremlin said that Russia will not participate in the talks between Ukraine and the United States on March 21

Russia will not participate in the talks between Ukraine and the United States scheduled for March 21. The Kremlin stated that these contacts will take place in a bilateral format, while not ruling out a return to trilateral talks in the future.

This was stated by Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the Russian service of the BBC reports.

Thus, Peskov stated that Moscow will not join the negotiations between Ukraine and the United States, which are scheduled for March 21. According to him, this time it is only about bilateral contacts between Kyiv and Washington. At the same time, the Kremlin expressed hope that in the future the negotiations will again take place in a trilateral format, with the participation of Russia, calling the current pause “temporary.”

Peskov also voiced Moscow's position on the so-called energy truce. The Kremlin believes that to achieve it, Ukraine must stop attacks on energy infrastructure and abandon what it claims is “energy blackmail by other countries.”

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for the resumption of the trilateral format of negotiations, which was suspended indefinitely amid the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East.
