“This is not true”: Zelensky said he does not want the US to perceive Ukraine as a state that only asks

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he would very much like the United States not to perceive Ukraine as a state that only asks, emphasizing that this is not the case.

He said this in an interview with the American tabloid The New York Post.

“I would really like the US not to perceive Ukraine as a country that only asks. This is not so. Ukraine defends its interests and values. Of course, America is right when it says that it is further from this war than Europe. This is understandable. But we see US allies in the Middle East, and we see what and who threatens them,” the head of state noted.

Zelensky stressed that “war is not as far away as we think,” and, he said, “we need to act as quickly as possible, and the whole world needs to wake up.” In his opinion, “enemies see when alliances are divided.”

“It no longer works that someone can buy modern weapons or extract oil and gas and be safe. Security appears when there are the most modern technologies and they are constantly being developed. If we do not develop a quick solution, if we do not unite with our allies with the technologies and expertise that came with war, if there is no combat-ready security alliance, then there will be war. War comes when you are weak or alone,” the president added.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump criticized the Ukrainian leader, urging him to make a deal with Russia, and also rejected Kyiv's offer to help intercept Iranian drones.

In turn, Zelensky stated that almost a year ago, Ukraine proposed to the US to conclude a large-scale agreement on drones and the export of Ukrainian security technologies, which could involve cooperation worth about $35-50 billion.
