Trump calls on several countries to send military ships to the Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump has called on a number of European and Asian countries to send warships to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, which is effectively blocked due to the threat of attacks from Iran.

He wrote about this in Truth Social.

Trump said Iran's military capabilities had been completely destroyed, but the country was still capable of targeting shipping. Trump called on China, Britain, France, Japan and South Korea to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz for joint patrols.

“Many countries, especially those affected by Iran's attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz, will send warships in conjunction with the US to keep the strait open and safe,” he wrote.

The White House chief of staff said that the US has “already destroyed 100% of Iran's military capability,” but the regime in Tehran could still “launch one or two drones, drop a mine, or launch a short-range missile” through this crucial sea route.

“The United States will bomb the coastline to splinters and constantly destroy Iranian boats and ships. One way or another, we will soon make the Strait of Hormuz open, safe and free,” Trump wrote.

Trump previously said that US naval forces would “very soon” begin escorting commercial oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.
