
The European Union has begun a written procedure to extend sanctions against the Russian Federation for six months due to the violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity.
This was reported to the Public by an EU official on condition of anonymity.
This means that each member state must sign if it agrees to their extension and there is no need for ambassadors to meet. The procedure will be completed tonight.
These are individual EU sanctions imposed due to violations of Ukraine's territorial integrity. They expire on March 15, 2026.
Earlier, Radio Liberty's Europe editor Rikard Jozwiak, citing his sources, reported that Hungary and Slovakia are demanding the removal of seven Russians from the EU sanctions list in order to extend individual sanctions against the Russian Federation for another six months.
On September 12, EU ambassadors agreed to extend personal sanctions for violating Ukraine's territorial integrity for another six months. At that time, Slovakia and Hungary demanded the removal of six individuals, but they remained on the sanctions lists.
