Blocking Telegram in Russia – how will it affect the Russian army?

Main points

  • Ukraine has launched systematic attacks on critical facilities in Russia, but another real blow has been the restrictions on messengers.
  • The blocking of Telegram in Russia has created serious communication problems for the Russian army, affecting its ability to operate effectively.

Ukraine is carrying out systematic strikes on enemy targets. After the defeat of the critically important enterprise “Kremniy El” in the Bryansk region, there have already been reports of the destruction of the S-300 system, radars, and ammunition depots in the Donetsk region and Crimea, but even these are not the only losses of the occupiers.

In addition, it became known about the blocking of communications and serious problems with the Internet in Russia. As opposition journalist Igor Yakovenko noted to Channel 24 , these are only temporary problems, the main ones are related to messengers, which have become a stab in the back for the enemy.

How will blocking Telegram affect the Russian army?

According to the journalist, these are business stories, and money is the key here. The owners of the social networks Vkontakte and MAX, which are owned by people close to Vladimir Putin, are most interested in eliminating Telegram.

As for blocking Telegram, it is a blow to the occupation army, because it is their main means of communication with each other, with their families, and with the command. It is a stab in the back to the Russian army.

“Now it is not only “blinded” by the Starlink shutdown, but also “deafened and dumb”. I can only wish success to Kiriyenko and Putin. Let them continue to stab their army in the back,” emphasized Igor Yakovenko.

Pay attention! Russia is becoming more and more like North Korea. Telegram has been banned, and access to the Internet has become weaker. Interestingly, other popular networks have also become inaccessible to Russians, including WhatsApp, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. It is also impossible to read some Western media.

Internet outages are primarily related to the blow to the Russian economy. Since Vladimir Putin does not use the Internet, he considers it an invention of an “enemy country” – the United States, and is very suspicious of it.

However, the Kremlin leader does not understand that “internet jamming” affects the economy, because it cannot exist without communication. With such actions, the dictator is further pushing his country back into the “Stone Age.”

What's happening in Russia: latest news

  • More and more Russians are losing their jobs. The number of employees who have been laid off is almost 60% higher than in 2025. Interestingly, the cuts are occurring in those areas that “feed” the Russian budget. We are talking about public administration, education, and healthcare.
  • Russian business is also suffering losses in the millions, with total company losses reaching a record 8.9 trillion rubles. The biggest drop in profits was seen in companies involved in the manufacture of motor vehicles and freight transportation.
  • Another painful blow for Russia was the attack by Storm Shadow missiles on a Russian military-industrial complex plant. This is the Kremniy El enterprise, which produced microelectronics for almost all types of Russian missiles, including new weapons. The plant premises were significantly damaged, equipment was probably destroyed, and narrow-profile specialists were killed.
