President Zelensky leads Summit of Special Tribunal’s Core Group
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Twitter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Today, Vodymyr Zelensky led an important Summit of the Special Tribunal’s Core Group initiated by the Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry. 37 participants confirmed their resve to hd Russia’s t leadership accountable for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. The Special Tribunal will ensure justice,” Kuleba emphasized.
According to the ministry’s press service, all participants unanimously confirmed their support for bringing Russia’s t pitical and military leadership to justice for the war of aggression against Ukraine.
“The countries of the Coalition are convinced that Russian aggression threatens not only Ukraine but also peace, security and democracy in general. The initiators of the atrocities that have not been seen since World War 2, the root cause of which is the crime of aggression, must be punished through the develment of an independent justice mechanism,” the ministry stressed.
Flowing the Summit, the countries of the Coalition issued a joint statement, confirming their support for the creation of an independent justice mechanism, the Special Tribunal, and noted the importance of further efforts.
A reminder that, in September 2022, Ukrainian President Vodymyr Zelensky established a working group headed by Andr Yermak, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, to focus on the creation of the Special Tribunal intended to bring the Russian leadership to justice for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Eure, the Eurean Parliament, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, and individual countries expressed support for the creation of such tribunal.
