The war has entered a new stage. To win, Ukraine needs to increase the pace of developing effective unmanned systems, purchasing them for the military, and using them on the battlefield.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi wrote about this on his Facebook page.
What did Syrsky say about changes in the war?
Oleksandr Syrsky noted that at a meeting on the development of unmanned systems, intelligence reported that this year the Russians are accelerating the creation of UAV units. In this way, the occupiers want to influence the course of hostilities, particularly in the southern directions, where they are losing initiative and territory.
By April 1, Russia planned to increase the number of unmanned systems troops to 101 thousand servicemen. In total, in February, our drones hit more than 105.2 thousand enemy targets. A quarter of them were accounted for by the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,
– said the general.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that the Defense Forces continue to maintain an advantage in the use of multirotor FPV drones, although the Russians have already acquired the ability to produce over 19 thousand FPV drones per day.
“We are developing our own line of fiber-optic FPV drones. Our drones have hit about 4.2 thousand enemy pilot positions in a month,” explained Syrsky.
What other innovations are being introduced in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to counter the enemy?
In addition, Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that to counter enemy strike drones, platoons of UAV interceptors are being created in units of the Armed Forces.
Their task is to destroy enemy FPV drones, quadcopters, and attack drones, and to improve logistics for our troops. They use anti-drone rifles, electronic warfare equipment, net launchers, etc.
– wrote the general.
Separately, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized the importance of developing the direction of ground robotic complexes. Thus, over the past month, these complexes have performed over 2.3 thousand tasks – mostly logistical, but also engineering and combat.
“In addition, during the meeting, I heard reports on the development of electronic warfare, training of UAV pilots and interceptor drones. I set new tasks for the development of unmanned systems structures. I gave orders to resolve problematic issues and provide units and training centers,” Syrsky noted.
He also emphasized that it was useful to hear lively, meaningful reports from representatives of combat units who shared their experience in the use and development of wheeled NRCs and aircraft-type strike UAVs, “kamikaze wings”, etc.
I thank the soldiers for their efficiency, dedication, and creative approach to work. Everything that makes the life of an infantryman easier must be implemented in the troops, and in this context, the expansion of unmanned systems is our number one task,
– summed up the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
How are the Armed Forces of Ukraine currently working on the front?
-
Roman Pohoriliy, co-founder of the DeepState analytical project, said that the Defense Forces have cleared about 80 square kilometers of territory on the border of Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. At the same time, according to the expert, in recent days the enemy has managed to increase the number of assault operations in the Hulyaipil direction.
-
Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 10 occupiers and several units of enemy equipment in the Oleksandrivka direction. Three ATVs, which the enemy used for maneuvers and transporting personnel, were also hit.

Interestingly, the battalion commander of the Sapsany unmanned systems battalion of the 30th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Konstantin Ostrohsky, Mykhailo “Deputat” Trach, explained in an interview with Channel 24 that the counterattacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region forced Russian forces to adjust their actions. However, they do not directly affect the situation in the north of the Donetsk region.
