The Czech Republic considers the route to Ukraine to be a smuggling route, so it is tightening controls on flights. However, the government is preparing restrictions not only on transportation, but also on staying in the country.

Why will the rules for transportation to Ukraine change?

The reason why the Czech government will control communication with Ukrainians is stated in a statement by the Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies and SPD party leader Tomio Okamura.

He said that currently on the Czech Republic-Ukraine route a number of carriers are working “in the black” . In particular, we are talking about smuggling: the transportation of weapons and other military goods. Therefore, the government has created a working group. Based on the results of the work, they are to review the conditions of transportation and introduce control over flights.

In particular, such actions are caused by non-payment of taxes. At the same time, some carriers do not check passengers' luggage.

Note! In addition to transport restrictions, the Czech authorities are preparing to introduce changes to the legislation on the stay of foreigners. The project will be presented in May.

Tomio Okamura emphasized that the regular passenger flow between the Czech Republic and Ukraine is 2 million people . Due to such a number and activity, the route requires additional control.

What is known about Ukrainians' trips abroad?

Ukraine has launched a new platform, Transport Data Hub, where you can track the most popular travel routes and trips. Ukrinform reports this with reference to Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Serhiy Derkach.

According to him, the goal of the project is to provide the state with data for planning the development of the transport industry, provide businesses with tools for analyzing and forecasting demand, and make travel for passengers more convenient, safer, and more predictable.

At the same time, the platform is planned to be used to exchange data within the framework of European integration initiatives, and the format itself also meets EU standards.
