Law enforcement officials apprehended an attorney, who had eluded investigators for over two years, on suspicion of the intentional killing of an individual back in 2022. The deceased, a 31-year-old Zhytomyr local, was recovered from a body of water, and a post-mortem examination confirmed the death was caused by force.

Law enforcement representatives took into custody a legal professional who had evaded the probe and was listed as wanted by the state for a period exceeding two years. He stands accused of the purposeful slaying of a man, an event that transpired in 2022. UNN conveys this information citing the Prosecutor General's Office.
Under the guidance of prosecutors from the Prosecutor General's Office in procedural matters, on January 21, 2026, a practicing lawyer was apprehended, having been in hiding from the investigation and on the state’s most wanted list for more than two years. He is being charged with premeditated homicide, as stipulated in Part 1 of Article 115 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. This stems from a criminal case initiated back in 2022

It is indicated that on July 17, 2022, the corpse of a 31-year-old Zhytomyr inhabitant, who had been unaccounted for since April of that year, was discovered in the reservoir of the Bohunsky quarry. An examination by forensic experts determined that the individual’s demise was attributable to violent means.
During the preliminary inquiry, it came to light that on April 26, 2022, the victim suffered a lethal gunshot wound within a residential dwelling situated in the regional capital.
Based upon the amassed evidence, a 46-year-old Zhytomyr resident was informed that he was a suspect in the commission of premeditated killing. At the time, he was engaged in the practice of law and had no prior criminal record. His whereabouts could not be ascertained, which led to him being placed on the state’s wanted list in July 2023. The suspect was taken into custody in the Odessa region, the result of sustained and collaborative efforts by prosecutors, investigators, and operatives
– added to the UGP.
On January 23, 2026, following a request from the prosecutor, the court mandated a custodial measure as a preventative action for the suspect.
