Details of the incident at Oschadbank on March 9 / 24 Channel
On the morning of March 9, clients of one of Ukraine's largest state-owned banks encountered unexpected difficulties when using mobile applications and electronic payments. The financial institution's technical systems stopped responding to user requests, causing a wave of concern among depositors.
Why are Oschadbank's systems not working on March 9?
Events began to unfold rapidly around 10 a.m., when Sberbank's automated monitoring systems detected anomalous activity on the network. Suspecting a DDoS attack, the technical service and management decided to temporarily shut down the servers, writes 24 Kanal .
Activating security protocols is a standard procedure in the event of a threat of external interference. This step, although inconvenient for users, allows you to localize the potential problem and conduct a thorough diagnosis without risking financial assets.
Specialists are currently conducting a deep technical check of all critical systems to ensure there is no malicious code or traces of unauthorized access.
Representatives of the financial institution assure that the situation is under full control. The press service of Oschadbank noted that the restoration of stable operation of all electronic services and mobile tools will occur within one hour, that is, by approximately 1:00 p.m. Clients are asked to remain calm, emphasizing that such measures are aimed solely at strengthening cyber protection.
Not the first time
This incident is not unique in the domestic banking sector:
- It is worth mentioning that recently, on the night of February 16, A-Bank was subjected to a large-scale hacker attack. Then the situation was much more serious: the attackers managed to illegally debit money from the accounts of some clients. However, thanks to a quick response, the attack was suppressed, and all the lost funds were returned to the owners in full. Experts called that case unique, since the hackers used a new type of cyber threat that had not previously been recorded in the Ukrainian banking system.
- In addition, monobank recently reported unsuccessful attempts to hack its systems.
