Hungary adopted a resolution on Ukraine on the last day of the session

On the last day of the Hungarian National Assembly's work, deputies adopted a resolution on Ukraine. The decision concerns the restriction of financial support to Ukraine.

This is reported by the Hungarian publication Index.

The resolution on Ukraine was prepared by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and the leader of the Fidesz parliamentary group, Mate Kocsis.

The 18-point document calls on the government not to direct Hungarian and European funds “to support the war in Ukraine” and also opposes EU initiatives “that could turn the union into a military alliance and limit the sovereignty of member states.”

“Take all necessary measures to prevent the continuation of the European Union's policy of further supporting the war in Ukraine. Prevent the withdrawal of funds from Hungary and the Hungarian people, as well as EU funds that legally belong to Hungary and the Hungarian people, to Ukraine. Do not adopt a budget that would direct a significant part of the support due to Hungarian farmers and the economy to Ukraine,” the document states.

142 deputies voted for the resolution, 28 were against and 4 abstained.

This session was the last before the general elections scheduled for April 12, unless an extraordinary session is needed.
