
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has appealed to members of the European Parliament to exert more pressure on their governments to accelerate the delivery of missiles for air defense systems to Ukraine amid increasing Russian attacks.
He emphasized this during a speech in the European Parliament on January 26.
NATO Secretary General stresses importance of PURL program The PURL program allows Kyiv's partners to finance the purchase of American weapons in accordance with a priority list of needs formed by Ukraine and approved by the United States and NATO. More than 20 countries have already joined it. , through which Ukraine purchases American missiles for air defense. According to him, this initiative allows to accelerate the transfer of weapons, but the pace remains too slow against the background of the increasing intensity of attacks from the Russian Federation.
Rutte drew the attention of deputies to the fact that a number of European countries have significant stocks of interceptors that could be transferred to Ukraine.
“Wherever you can, I ask you to put pressure on your governments to take this step,” he said.
According to Rutte, individual states have already stepped up supplies, but this is still not enough.
